Rosie the Robot Maid is a female robot designed for the replacement of a maid. She was the primary robot of the Jetson family. She was admitted to HAL Institute for killing Astro the dog and Elroy on conclusion that they were dirty and had to be "cleaned".
The choice of Rosie on Futurama is noteworthy, as Matt Groening early on made it clear that they didn't want Futurama to be an utopia like The Jetsons or a dystopia like Blade Runner.[1] While it cannot be confirmed, the choice of Rosie being admitted to the HAL Institute could be a reference to The Jetsons' usual view of the future an utopia, where an event of Rosie killing Astro and Elroy would not happen.
